The Alliance of Desert Theatres started as many people and businesses have had to do since the COVID pandemic took hold, with a Zoom call. Since that first virtual meeting on May 15, 2020, the group has created several working committees. The group, which consists primarily of the theatres’ & performing arts organizations' artistic directors, senior management, and business representatives, shares information and ideas.
We support one another through the uncertainty that abounds as we reopen as safely as possible for our patrons, actors, artists, employees and volunteers. We brainstorm about things like bulk purchasing power, co-op advertising, streaming platforms, video equipment, season subscription formats, safe outdoor venues, how to have a voice with elected officials. We share real time information about our industry & professional unions.
At the forefront of the discussions are how our theatre companies can best safely offer the vibrance of live performing arts to our communities to continue to enrich people’s lives. We are strengthened by our connection with one another and we are determined to keep the powerful resonance of theatre alive and thriving.
